When to Use Lap Joint Flange

Lap joint flange is good for very expensive materials or special alloys due to reduced cost of sleeve compared to solid flange.

The usage of it need two pieces combination, the flange itself and a stub end. It allows for the flange to be made of a lower cost steel, while only the stub end requires specialty materials. It has great advantages of low cost and ease of work.
