Stainless steel pipe fittings can be divded into socket weld and threaded pipe fittings, both of them are available in grades ASTM A182 F304 / F316 / F321 / F310 / F904. F means forging, so that we can also call it as forged steel fittings which standard is ASME B16.11

ASTM A182 standard specification covers forged or rolled alloy and stainless steel pipe flanges, forged fittings, and valves and parts for high-temperature service. After hot working, forgings shall be cooled to a specific temperature prior to heat treatment, which shall be performed in accordance with certain requirements such as heat treatment type, austenitizing/solution temperature, cooling media, and quenching.

There are four types that full coupling, half coupling, straight coupling and reducing coupling. It is used to connect two pipes or tubes whatever the diameter size is same or not.

Socket Weld Union

It is a pipe attachment detail in which a pipe is inserted into a recessed area of a Valve, fitting or flange.
